About International Tennis School
ITS runs academies at the Regional Sports Centre, Ernakulam and at a further 6 tennis facilities at Vellore, Tamil Nadu. Lessons are available from 6.30 am to 10.30 am in the morning and 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm in the evening. Private lessons with K. Shankar (+919447139724) or his team can be scheduled.
Note: Fees are payable to Rama Varma Club, Ernakulam for training and court use.
Tennis legacy of K. Shankar, Director & Mentor
Shankar is a former National Ranked Junior Player in India and a valued member of the Indian Universities team. His tennis journey is marked by impressive achievements, including titles as the former Kerala State Champion and Kerala University Champion for multiple years. In 1987, he proudly represented India in International Tournaments, and in 2021, he showcased his skills on the global stage by representing India in the Seniors World Championships in the 50+ category in Umang, Croatia.
In addition to his illustrious playing career, K. Shankar has been a certified coach since 1996 through the USPTR (UNITED STATES PROFESSIONAL TENNIS REGISTRY). His coaching credentials include:
AITA LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATION in 2000
Certified ITF LEVEL 2 COACH from India in 2002. Shankar earned his spot among the 24 Asian Tennis Coaches selected by Olympic Solidarity for certification based on merit. This initiative was a fully funded movement.
Since taking on the role of Program Director of ITS in 2007, Shankar has been instrumental in nurturing talent. Under his guidance, the program has produced:
9 players who represented the country in International Junior Tournaments.
65 players have achieved rankings in India
120 players have secured rankings in the State of Kerala.
The program under Shankar’s mentorship has consistently celebrated State Champions across various age categories, from Boys/Girls U-10 to Men and Women, including an Asian U-14 Champion.
